So sorry this is late, guys! I thought I had done this over a week ago, but apparently I imagined that. XD

This month's reading selection is:

The Storyteller's Daughter by Cameron Dokey

Sometime before the end of the month, please try to read this book and post a review of it either here, or on your personal blog/LJ/DW/other website and link to it here in the comments.

I read The Storyteller's Daughter last year, and thought it was a lovely book. ♥

This was a really hard book to find for some reason, so I ended up downloading the e-book. I really like the cover with the girl wearing the white dress. It took me a while to really get into this book - the language was a bit repetitive and too elegant-ish. However once I got into the first few chapters it really took hold of me, and I couldn't put it down. I couldn't wait to find out what happened! In a way this book reminded me of Toads and Diamonds due to the writing style, and sometimes when I thought about the story, I would use the name Diribani instead.

I really liked the stories intertwined within this larger story. I like the lessons they teach and the characters they introduce. I especially liked the story of The Water Bearer's Daughter, and how it actually tied with the larger story occurring. Somehow I feel that the ending was a little bit lacking for some reason, but overall I really enjoyed the book, the feelings the characters had, their thoughts, and their world. It seems very magical.

Over all I enjoyed this book. I think the tails that Shahrazad told though out the book were very interesting and made me want to know what was going to happen to tie into the over all story.
